Honored to Judge the ISPWP Spring Wedding Photography Contest 2025

There are moments in every professional journey that feel quietly monumental—when years of dedication, learning, and creativity are acknowledged in a way that encourages reflection more than celebration. For us at CB Photographer Venice, being selected as judges for the ISPWP (International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers) Spring Wedding Photography Contest 2025 is one of those moments.

 The ISPWP is widely respected within the photography industry. Its contests are not only highly competitive but also deeply rooted in values that resonate with us: storytelling, artistry, technical precision, and a profound respect for the wedding day experience. Being asked to contribute to the judging process is both an honor and a responsibility, and we approach it with gratitude and humility.

Our team has spent more than 13 years documenting love stories in Venice. We’ve worked with couples from all over the world, adapting our approach to suit the uniqueness of every person, every light condition, and every corner of this city we call home. From early morning couple shoots on quiet bridges to emotional elopements and elegant celebrations, each shoot has taught us something new.

We’ve always viewed our work not just as photography, but as a form of cultural preservation and emotional storytelling. To now sit on a panel that evaluates the work of others—artists who share the same passion for wedding photography—is a privilege that brings us full circle.

Photography contests play a key role in shaping the industry. They help define standards, highlight innovation, and bring global visibility to photographers who might otherwise work quietly in their regions. The ISPWP contests, in particular, celebrate work that combines authenticity with technical excellence—something we’ve always strived for in our own practice.

As judges, we’re not just selecting the most striking images—we're looking for honesty, atmosphere, and emotional depth. The role requires us to step out of our own visual preferences and appreciate the intentions, stories, and challenges behind each photo. It’s a humbling process, and a learning opportunity in itself.

This experience has given us new insights into how the language of photography evolves across cultures and wedding traditions. Reviewing work from photographers in Asia, the Americas, Europe, and beyond, we’re reminded of the incredible diversity of approaches and how universal the language of love truly is.

 It’s also a reminder of how much this industry is shaped by community. The ISPWP fosters a professional space where high standards are balanced with genuine support among photographers. We’ve learned so much by observing our peers, and this moment of recognition is not an endpoint, but a milestone on a continuous path of growth.

Being chosen as judges doesn’t mean we see ourselves as the best or most accomplished in our field. In fact, the more we grow, the more we realize how much there is left to explore and refine. What this invitation means, however, is that our way of working—discreet, honest, intentional—has resonated with others. And that’s something we’re truly thankful for.

 We carry this honor with a sense of responsibility. We know what it takes to submit your work to a panel of peers. We know how much is behind each frame: the stress, the joy, the hundreds of tiny decisions made in a single moment. So our approach to judging is one of respect—for the work, for the artists, and for the couples whose memories are captured.

We return to our work in Venice inspired and refreshed. Seeing so many powerful images through the ISPWP contest has reminded us of why we began this journey in the first place. It’s not about recognition. It’s about connection—between people, between photographer and subject, and between the past and the present through visual memory.
